All Quiet On The Martian Front

I have always been interested in HG Wells book War of the Worlds. I grew up reading that book and seeing the 50's movie and have always been fascinated with what would happen if Martians really attacked us.

I saw this game "All Quiet on the Martian Front" when it was on Kickstarter a few years ago. I won't go into detail on how that KS went, as I didn't participate in it. After reading lots of postings about people playing the game, and seeing pictures, I grew more and more curious about this game. Sadly it was out of print when I started looking at getting into the game. then I had the opportunity to buy a LARGE lot from someone who went in on the KS really heavy. He just wanted what he paid for the stuff and very little of the stuff was assembled. Needless to say I started hoarding money away for this and made the purchase.

Panzer IV F1/F2's

Continuing with my DAK tanks, I've added some Panzer IV F1/F2's with modifications I made to the Panzer III J's for barrel swapping.

Panzer III J's

To help grow my DAK army, I've painted up some Panzer III J's. Rather than settle with a specific gun for each model, I made them modular. I was toying with the idea of using magnets, but I thought that the size of magnets needed to keep the barrels in place would be too large. So after thinking about the situation for a while, I came up with a simple solution - pegs.

Leopard 2 Preview

As I mentioned in a previous post, I won a box set of the Leopard 2 (TGBX01) from Battlefront during their "Leopard Weekend". Well it arrived today!

DAK Marder III (7.62cm)

After looking at my Marders that I painted several years ago and deciding that their paint job didn't do they justice, I stripped them down and repainted them. Since I've been using my DAK army a lot lately, I wanted to add them to my force (since this specific model was used in North Africa).  The paint scheme needed to match that period, not to mention my current DAK theme, so Desert Yellow was called upon once more.

Team Yankee - Woot!

I never win anything - even if I was the only one entering a contest. The odds are always stacked against me when it comes to contests, which is why I am writing this post. My luck seems to have turned around!

I entered Battlefront's Facebook competition and my name was drawn. How cool is that?

That's my name on the Flames of War homepage!

So what did I win you might be asking? A new box of Team Yankee Leopard's when they come out!

Thank you again Battlefront! Check back when I do an unboxing/review of the set when they arrive.

DAK Pioneer and HMG platoons

Continuing with my DAK army, I've finished the Pioneers and HMG platoons I needed to help round out my army. It seems that every time I try to use my DAK list, my opponents always seem to be running tank lists. To help beef up the survivability of my 15. Panzerkompanie, I decided I needed some pioneers.
